Election day is today, and we’re all writhing with excitement. Also, we listened to some good music today. Here’s the newest pop additions to the Pop WOBC Vault:
Prince Rama // Top Ten Hits at the End of the World
Party at the end of the world! Everyone’s invited! Prince Rama’s greatest hits album got tarred and glittered and then electrocuted itself during a bubble bath. Huge, glamorous production — so obsessed with itself…deprived of oxygen from too much hair gel. A+++
Onuinu // Mirror Grazer
Surprise! Chillwave is still not over. And I am totally OK with it, and all of that funky/fuzzy synthy bouncy poppy-pop that this CD brings to the party.
FYI: pronounced “on you in you,” which makes sense, sort of.
Why? // Mumps, etc
Partial raps, good beats, good vibes.
A new school year, a new batch of hot pop hits. Check out what we just added to the vault written by new members of pop workgroup!
How to Dress Well – Total Loss
IF YOU HAVE EVER HAD FEELINGS THIS ALBUM IS FOR YOU. A spacey, dark take on R&B with a lots of haunting falsetto. End-track “Ocean Floor For Everything” will probably kill you, just a little bit. – Fiz
Woods – Bend Beyond
If you like woodsy, synth pitched music this is for you. Not totally on the synthpop side and still grounded in indie alternative woodsy music. Tracks are a great blend of the two distinct styles. – Harlee
David Byrne and St. Vincent – Love this Giant
Anything that St. Vincent works on (besides that one Andrew Bird song…) is pure bliss. St. Vincent minus the guitar, plus major brass and Talking Heads’ genius member gives me chills. So good. – Rachel
