Why Independent Freeform Radio?

Let’s remember the alternative.

There are no “minor leagues” and “major leagues” here, no contractual obligations to corporations, and no advertising dollars anywhere. New and interesting music is played 24/7, rather than being shoved into the middle of the night. We are completely independent and freeform from now until infinity.

Plus…Sean Price on the come-up??? Sean Price has been out here for more than a decade. He also has been reporting on hurricanes as of late.

But in all seriousness, his 2005 classic Monkey Barz is well-worth a listen.

Tuesday is College Radio Day

Tuesday, October 2nd is College Radio Day!

An international event, College Radio Day was started in 2010 by Rob Quicke of WPSC in New York as a way to “harness the combined listenership of hundreds of thousands of college radio listeners throughout the world and to celebrate the important contribution of college radio by uniting for this one day”. This is a great day to bring together all the rad college and high school radio stations there are out there.

Find out more at www.collegeradioday.com and be sure to tune in to WOBC, 91.5 FM all day to show your support of college radio.
And why not check out any of the other awesome stations participating in College Radio Day and spread the radio love!

Happy October, everybody!

WOBC has much love for WPEB-West Philly Community Radio

Pictured: Jasper, Leo, Jesse, Francesca, Sam, Renee, and Champe.

On January 23rd, WOBC visited WPEB 88.1, West Philadelphia’s new community radio station.

Stories were swapped, tips were given, and a kinship was formed between these two independent stations.

Please check out their website: WPEB 88.1 FM

Big thanks to Corey for setting the whole thing up.

If you’re ever in West Philly, try to drop by WPEB!
