The Oberlin Heritage Center is offering wonderfully melodious tours of the Heritage Center’s historic properties on the first Saturday of February (Feb. 4), March (March 4), and April (April 1) at 1:00 p.m. Learn how music was used for entertainment, fellowship and teaching in 19th and 20th century homes. Advance registration is recommended; reserve a tour online at www.oberlinheritagecenter.org or call (440) 774-1700. The tour fee is $6 per adult and is free for OHC members, children and college students.

Explore Oberlin’s abolitionist and Underground Railroad history by participating in the Freedom’s Friends tablet tour offered free during February in honor of Black History month. This self-guided tour is presented on a user-friendly iPad (borrowed from the Heritage Center) allowing participants to move at their own pace through town and campus to learn about local landmarks and discover new stories of sacrifice and freedom that occurred in and around historic Oberlin. The main tour covers about a mile.

According to Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) statistics, Ohio is a top 10 state for both vehicle and pedestrian casualties on train tracks. The demographic most likely to be struck by a train are 18-34 and over 50% of these incidents involve alcohol and drugs.
