block-party1

WOBC OUTREACH WORKGROUP IS CURRENTLY PLANNING

WE’RE VERY VERY HAPPY ABOUT THAT BUT WE CAN ALSO BE SAD SOMETIMES TOO. WHILE ALL OF US HERE AT WOBC & BEYOND WAIT PATIENTLY FOR BLOCK PARTY 2-0-1-4 TO HAPPEN <>, OUTREACH WORKGROUP HAS CHOSEN TO LEAVE YOU WITH SOME OF OUR FAV SAD SONGS TO PASS THE TIME.

TANYA

slow groove for my abandoned dreams

PAROMA

i sent this song to a crush in high school so it’s doubly sad bc it’s a sad song and also…crushes are the worst. he liked it though

ENIMIELEN

What Sarah Said-Death Cab for Cutie because all their songs are sad and they don’t know how to not be sad.

ATHENA

My sad song is “It’s My Party” by Lesley Gore. It’s hella sad because it’s about a girl getting dumped on her birthday. Can you even imagine!? I love Lesley Gore.

OLUMAYOWA

So my sad song is Miss You by The Concretes. I guess I like it because its all about missing someone you love and it makes me sad cause I’m not currently in love and then there are like mournful horns in the background a little bit and it’s just very good for wallowing in sadness/self-pity.

ARCADIA

Sad songs? The Little Women soundtrack.

PETER

I’ve heard that Smith wrote this song after listening to Goodbye Yellow Brick Road by Elton John on repeat for the duration of a ******** ****. You can hear the searing repetition of something like 157 consecutive plays of that song packed into a single play of Waltz #1. People always tell me to turn off the Elliott “buzzkill” Smith but for some reason I don’t find it depressing. This song has what might be the best melody I know.

ISABELLE

My favorite sad song is Milk and Honey by Nick Drake. Nick Drake’s verses slip through your ears like soppy milk and mull your most melancholy thoughts together with his hazy honey ways.

JULIA

this song reminds me that * love hurts * and bob dylan was not so nice.

i listen to it when i am lying down in my blue room with blue walls feeling blue.

EMMA

oof

MAXIM

“Do What You Gotta Do” by Meg Baird. It’s beautiful. It can make me feel sad even when I’m happy.
